Snohomish, Washington

The city of Snohomish is located in Snohomish County, situated between the Cascade Mountains and the Puget Sound, with neighboring cities including Everett, Woodinville and Monroe.

Snohomish prides itself for its historical downtown, and is known as the “Antique Capital of the Northwest.” The historic business and residential center of the town, located along the Snohomish River, constitutes the Snohomish Historic District which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Snohomish was founded in the late 1850s and the name Snohomish is taken from the name of the dominant local Native American tribe.

One of the first inland cities in the Puget Sound region, Snohomish was built where a planned military road connecting was set to cross the Snohomish River.  Although the road was never completed, Snohomish quickly became a local center of commerce in the expanding region.

Today, Snohomish is a model of how cities can reinvigorate their business districts by preserving their historic charm.
